I was bracing for this to be a big deal. Then it wasn't.
Enough girls joined to form an all-girl patrol. She's now an assistant patrol leader and will be acting leader in a weeklong camping adventure this summer. She's learned to speak publicly, organize activities, engage the younger kids and carry half her weight during a 12-mile backpacking trip. The boys her age in the troop don't seem to notice or care there's an extra patrol. Kudos to dad and the other leaders for suggesting it.
